Chana Masala Recipe
Preparing a Chatpata Chana Masala in super quick time - ideal for a quick meal with Chapathi/Roti
Ingredients
The Ingredients are meant to create a portion serving 2, scale as needed.
Ingredients | Quantity |
Chickpeas (a.k.a Chana) |
2 cups (soak in water for a few hours) |
Onion | 1 medium (medium slices, thinner the better) |
Tomato | 2 cut into small diced cubes |
Chana masala Powder | 2 teaspoons |
Salt, Red Chilli Powder, Rasam powder, Garam Masala Powder, Coriander Powder | To taste |
Turmeric Powder | half a teaspoon |
Cooking Oil | 2 teaspoons |
Spices - Bay Leaf, Star anise, Cinnamon sticks | Small pieces |
Coriander Leaves | For dressing after cooking completes |
Lemon Extract | A sprinkle |
Ginger garlic paste | A teaspoon |
Preparation
1. In a Wok/Pot, fry onions with spices in oil till golden brown, and add in the ginger garlic paste.
2. Then add in the Tomatoes and Sprinkle in salt, Coriander Powder, Garam masala powder & Chana masala powder and keep mixing till the spices are even, and the tomato is mashed out to a paste.
3. Add water and let everything simmer on low flame till the mix thickens (should be about 5-7 mins).
4. Add in the Chickpeas and mix till the spices are even.
5. Dress the dish with Coriander leaves.
